This was different from any other market l’ve be This was different from any other market l’ve been to in the best way 👏🏾This is Souq Wagif, Doha’s iconic market place that speaks volumes about the culture and history there ✨ Here are some things to do while you’re at the souq: 🛍️ Shopping & Culture - Traditional Markets: The alleys are filled with stores selling spices, textiles, perfumes, and handicrafts - Gold Souq: Several shops sell intricate gold jewelry, and we all know Middle Eastern craftsmanship is top tier! - Souq Waqif Art Center: Explore various galleries and exhibitions, celebrating Qatari creativity. 🐪 Animal Encounters - Camel and Horse Stables: Visit the camels and horses, this was definitely a highlight for me! 🥘 Food - Local Cuisine: Enjoy traditional Qatari dishes like machboos and harees at various eateries within the souq. - Parisa Restaurant: Experience Persian dining here - the setting is truly stunning I was there past midnight but most of the stores were closed! But this time I thought l’d try something different. Instead of seeing it as an inconvenience, I saw it as an opportunity to visit a new country and ended up in one of the most beautiful places l’ve ever been to Of course passport privilege plays a role in being able to do this, but also, some places offer visa on arrival, which makes this option a lot more accessible! Tip: Some international airports offer tour services for people in transit, so look out for those as well!
